  • When should I do maintenance?

Aside from regular oil changes and tire services, most manufacturers recommend getting scheduled inspections at 30,000, 60,000, and 90,000 miles. For the best guidance, we recommend referring to your owner's manual. You can also contact us for more information.

  • When do I need an alignment?

At Ric Henry's Auto Service, we recommend coming in for an alignment when you notice any of the following:

    • Your vehicle pulls to one side
    • Uneven tire wear
    • Steering wheel is crooked when driving straight
    • Squealing tires
    • Vibrating steering wheel
    • Steering wheel feels loose or unresponsive

Each of these situations is a sign that it's time to come in for an alignment service. Contact us today to schedule an appointment.

  • When should I get my tires rotated?

You should have your tires rotated every 5,000 - 8,000 miles. To request a tire rotation, please contact Ric Henry's Auto Service today.

  • Does it matter how expensive my tires are?

The cost of tires matters, but it's most important to consider the type of tire and how you'll be using your vehicle. Passenger tires are suitable for most sedans for everyday use, while high-performance tires are recommended for luxury vehicles.

  • When should my car get an oil change?

The frequency of oil changes depends on the type of oil you use. Conventional oil brands last between 3,000 to 5,000 miles, while synthetic brands can go from 7,500 to 15,000 miles. It's recommended to change the oil at least 4 times a year.

  • How do I know what type of oil my car needs?

For most makes and models on the road, conventional oil performs just fine unless you drive a high-performance vehicle like a BMW, Porsche, or Corvette.

  • How often should I change my brakes?

Brake pads should typically be replaced every 25,000 to 60,000 miles with typical usage.

  • How bad can I let my brakes get before they become dangerous?

It's dangerous to drive with worn brake pads. Signs that your brakes need to be replaced include a squeaking noise that eventually turns into a grinding noise.

  • Where are my rotors? Do they always have to be replaced with my brakes?

Brake Rotors are the large metal discs that are connected to the wheels of your vehicle. They are usually the metal you can see when staring into a standard vehicle wheel from the outside. They typically last longer than your Brake Pads. The standard car Rotor can last between 50,000 and 70,000 miles.

  • Is maintaining a foreign car more difficult than maintaining an American-made car?

Maintenance is equally important for any vehicle, whether foreign or domestic. Always follow your manufacturer's recommendations. When it comes to foreign cars, ensure the mechanic is certified to work on them.
